Brandon met his wonderful wife, Lindsey Ann-Schmidt Mangold, in December 2003 and moved to Montgomery, TX (North Houston area) from Kerrville, TX (Northwest San Antonio area) shortly thereafter. They were wed June 11, 2005. Brandon and Lindsey do not have any children but rather consider their 3 dogs and 3 cats their children.
Brandon’s mother (Karen Mangold), father (Mike Mangold) and brother (Tanner Mangold) live on the Mangold family ranch in Bandera, TX.
Brandon is an avid PC gamer, golfer, NBA fan and sports car fanatic.
Brandon first started his journey in technology as a Junior in High School where he attended a CompTia A+ certification class and achieved his first IT certification the end of his Junior year. During his senior year he attended a CCNA course through the University of Texas at his high school. He also studied for his Network+ certification during that year. A month after graduating high school in 2002 he sat and passed both his Network+ and CCNA exams.
Since then Brandon has sat nearly 50 IT certification exams, mostly for Microsoft and Cisco certifications. He currently holds: CCIE 31104 (RS), CCSP, CCNP: Security, CCNP, CCDP, CCNA: Voice, MCSE 2003, MCSA 2000 & 2003, MCP XP & 2000, MCITP: Windows 7/Vista, CompTia Security+, CompTia Network+ and CompTia A+.
He started a part time job as a PC technician for a local company January 2002. Upon graduation he began working full time with a focus on small business IT consulting. Shortly thereafter he began his own IT consulting company, HCS Consulting, in August 2003. He sold his business January 2006 after moving to Houston to be closer to Lindsey, his fiance at the time.
He started as IT Manager for small insurance adjusting firm January 2006 where he managed end systems, servers, network and telecom. He also dabbled in program development during this time, focusing on the LAMP system (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
He the moved on to work a network operations center remediation and greenfield design project for a small telecommunications company in North Houston. He led the design effort and saw the initial implementation of that project to completion.
After this effort he landed on a network remediation project at Continental Airlines. He served as Network Engineer in the project office doing remote site network design and remediation for two years before moving to the Enterprise Engineering team to server as the Security SME for the Network Engineering team.
During the merger of Continental and United airlines Brandon led several large design initiatives including the design for the network connectivity between the two enterprises and major data-center capacity expansion re-designs.
He now serves as a Principal Architect for the new United Airlines and this is where our story begins…
